my saturday…

i love the idea of listing those things that i’m grateful for but i don’t want to make it an everyday thing. first of all it will be hard to be original and secondly it would probably get boring for the 2 other people that look at my blog. so i’ll add some of those things now and then amongst my other ravings.

today…i’m grateful for my mom who sews and who made me an awesome apron for christmas. (it came a bit late but that’s ok.) i’m a messy cook…a really really messy cook. i probably splash or splatter on myself everytime i cook. maybe that just means i’m really involved in it but none the less…i’m always a mess. the apron covers me enough that i don’t have to worry. i love the pockets too. i keep my blackberry in the pocket and usually a towel since it never stays on my shoulder.

what was the rest of my saturday like?

i have been down lately. california living can be stressful. it’s ridiculously expensive here. even groceries are more expensive. taxes are outrageous. home prices are outrageous. some days i just don’t know if sunshine and warm weather is enough to make up for the constant gouging of our budget.

finding out that jersey shore was renewed for another season didn’t help my mood. this show is pure trash as are the people on it. do they aspire to new lows? i’m a self-confessed tv addict. i watch often and i watch a variety of shows. but this…garbage…is disgusting. i rather be subjected to bill o’leilly than have to watch this stuff. people who know me know that that is saying something. i won’t say anymore as anything else would just be further insults to these sub-humans.

i was cheered up after watching a rerun of obama’s crushing of republicans friday. for republicans to say that they won this debate in anyway is a joke. they spent the meeting, for the most part, trying to score points. as the president said to jeb hensarling, his “question” was basically a soliloquy of talking points. few of the questions posed to the president seemed to be actual questions. they seemed to be framed as talking points which would score points with the base and then any answer after that didn’t really matter. i wish that the president’s message would resonate, especially with the average voter at home but i’m afraid with the 24 hour news cycle that is afraid to call a spade a spade, it won’t.

speaking of the news cycles…i’m so frustrated with the trend of the last decade or even two decades. this incessant need to be “fair”. this isn’t a bad idea…just watch fox and their supposed fair and balanced reporting. but fair doesn’t mean that both sides are correct. if a news organization truly wanted to be fair you should look at the issue and report the truth. don’t give both sides a fair shake if it isn’t warranted. if one side has lied or bent the truth or don’t something wrong, you don’t need to give them a fair shake. they were wrong…say that they’re wrong! don’t try and find something wrong on the other side to compare. just report the news. argh!

michael and i saw ‘legion’ today. i love paul bettany and he was in top physical form for this movie. wow! however, the movie itself was a let down. the trailers made it seems as if it was a high action movie but in reality there was very little. the story line could have been good but it was disappointing. i think they left it open for some sort of sequel too. we’ll see.

i’ve been feeling dizzy lately…maybe it’s an inner ear thing. i’m not sure. i was just sitting on the couch watching tv and all of the sudden…i was feeling dizzy. i think if i had been standing i would have starting listing to the right. it happens quiet a bit. the dr. told me on wednesday that this crazy ear thing that i keep having (swelling and pain of the whole ear and sometimes right side of my head) my be relapsing polychondritis and after looking that up, it says that it could affect the inner ear.

the asses in mass…

if scott brown is elected tomorrow…which it appears he will be…the people of mass. deserve everything they get. i know…this is a mantra of mine – you deserve what you get – but how can memories possibly be THIS short. it was only a scant few months back that we had a republican president who was marking the days on his calendar until he could cut and run. we had a republican administration who could care less about the average american. we had an administration who cared more about getting another dollar to the top tier of americans. it was tough to get anything done under those guys. we had a congress controlled by democrats but not a filibuster proof majority. so we thought..if only…

obama was elected on a wave of good will. americans felt like we could finally come together. maybe that was our problem. republicans had no intention of coming together. obstruction was the word of the day on republican street. i guess i’m confused…when was it that a majority in congress suddenly become 60 rather than 51? seriously, i’m not confused at all.

if the american memory is so short…it’s only a matter of time before we had back to pre-emptive strikes, back to wall street protection, back to secrets and deception. if it matters so little…we live with what we get.

republicans spent 8 years ignorning the growing health insurance problem within the US. if we reelect these republicans who are determined to stop health reform at all costs…we will go right back to that growing problem. what is scott brown’s solution for health reform? we don’t know…what is any republican’s plan for health reform?

i’m disgusted…but resigned. we will probably lose in mass. we will probably lose this fall…maybe not our majority but certainly what tiny bit of power the dems were unafraid to use.

right-wing ridiculousness – part 175…

so yesterday the teabagging, right-wing crazies had a march on washington yesterday. nothing wrong with that, huh? i don’t know…

at times i feel like this thing must be about race and yet other times i feel like it’s all about not participating in ANYTHING the democrats propose – even to the detriment of your well being! on msnbc today ________ said that while watching clips from the recent teabagger protest in washington (my words, not hers) she noticed that it wasn’t just about healthcare but also taxes, the war, anti-abortion, cap and trade and much more. that should be a hint….they don’t like anything that is going on. that’s fine. they are entitled to their positions but just admit that you are not willing to work in anyway with this president. you want him to quit working on the agenda that got him elected. you want him to ignore the huge mandate he was handed on election day and resume the bush agenda.

i think obama and his group need to realize that these people do NOT want to work with us. they do NOT want work on a compromise. they do NOT like you or us. there is nothing that can be done to appease these people within your agenda.

the president’s education speech…

wow! after listening to that speech, i’m scared to death for the mental health of my children. i think they will turn into socialistic, brainwashed little soldiers who will mindlessly do the bidding of this marxist democratic president….

ugh…just kidding.

i think that republicans/right-wingers hate obama (and democrats) so much that they will be against ANYTHING this administration tryies to do whether in the public’s best interest or not.

why is asking a student what they can do to help the president a bad thing? these righties are saying it’s just another way to brainwash the kids. it’s another way for obama to push his agenda.

HOLD ON! if this is a potential assignment given by teachers after hearing obama’s speech wouldn’t parents then see this assignment and have the potential to look it over and help the students craft their homework? couldn’t parents help the children to understand the views the parents may hold? why would kids necessarily be indoctrinated and begin to suggest socialist programs?

isn’t it possible that if parents are spending time explaining their world views to their children, perhaps the kids would suggest some of those views in their homework assignment?

or maybe it’s that these right-wingers aren’t spending time explaining their family values to their children. maybe these kids have no idea what their parents stand for because their parents are too busy shouting down what the other side believes in rather than giving solutions.

typical of the right…trash what the left wants to do without suggesting any ideas of their own. always the party of no!

the president at school…

how disingenuous these righties are regarding the president’s speech to school children! it’s not unprecedented as i’ve heard stated repeatedly. it’s not even unusual. presidents have used technology as it’s become available. 25 years ago when reagan was president, this just wasn’t an easy possibility. presidents regularly speak to school children.

(now i know that bush only read a story to the kids but you have to keep the speeches at the intelligence level of the speaker and an elementary book was all he could handle.)

i do agree that asking ‘how you can help the president’ is a poor choice of words. it sounds like a plea for assistance in pushing an agenda. i would hope that what they meant was how can you be involved in the government.

every year in school we had to write some type of essay about the government. (what needed to be done. why our government is great, etc…) i am fully behind any assignment that would help my kids get involved in our governmental processes.

i wish these righties would just come out and say it in plain speak. you don’t want your kids to hear from a democrat in general…obama specifically. you would like to keep your indoctrination inside the home. fine…keep your kids home. don’t deprive my children of being involved in seeing what their government is all about.

i guess this all comes from sour grapes. after adulterous newt promised a republican revolution and piggy rove promised a permanent republican majority, it must be a disappointment to realize they screwed it all up. i’m not so stupid as to think the democrats will be in power forever or even for the next 8 years. i do, however, realize that holding the governing process hostage because you’re pissed that you’re a minority is childish! democrats may have disagreed strenuously with what bush was doing but it did NOT require a 60 vote majority every time he wanted something done! the dems were smart enough to use that awesome power responsibly…when it was very important. repugs are causing great harm to the governing process all for sour grapes. it’s sad, childish and irresponsible.
