another dreary day…

it is another dreary day in california. it rained over night. it rained this early morning. it rained last this morning. the wind is picking up now and i have a feeling it will rain this afternoon. it’s gray and ugly.

oh..and my mood is a bit gray and ugly too. this is one of those “woke up on the wrong side of the bed” days. i feel lots of stress which is nothing new but add to that being down and gray and it’s a bad combo. i hate these kind of days.

ah yes…here comes the rain. i hope it doesn’t wash my plants away or the seeds that i planted. i don’t have a whole lot of hope for my poppy seeds. :(

i’m bummed about massachusetts and the short memories of the voters. after 8 years of total chaos and destruction from the bush administration, why in god’s name would you pass judgement on obama after only 1 year? are the memories that short? the guy was handed the worst economic crisis since the great depression, a terrible housing market, 2 failed wars and tons of other “little” things with which to deal by a guy who was so eager to leave that he quit a couple of months early.

voters are holding obama accountable for the economic debacle. they’re holding him responsible for the tarp program. by electing scott brown, they’ve just invited more of the same. this guy isn’t change. he’s a return to 8 years of destruction. massachusetts voters deserve whatever now comes their way. i hope their taxes skyrocket. i hope their healthcare costs double or even triple. do they want job creation? tough, i hope their unemployment skyrockets. if you think this tea party loser will help your state or the US..you are sorely mistaken. he’s a return to washington politics.

the back is still bothering me. i’m so happy the regular dr, dr h was back. his methods work so much better and i do feel a difference after he’s adjusted it. i am losing patience though. maybe it’s better just to go back to a crooked pelvis and not have the pain associated with trying to straighten it.

i still have a sore throat and a head cold. yuck!

i guess i’ve decided to be as honest as i can here. it’s a shit day so why try to write a happy blog?

does this shit picture give an indication of my mood today?

sunday in the garden…

our house had some landscaping done when we moved in but we’ve been trying to improve and add to it. i did a post earlier about some of the new plants we added at the beginning of the year. they are all thriving so far.

we planted one rose bush which was cut down to the bare stems. it’s been two weeks and those stems are already covered with leaves!

this is one of the wonderful things about living in california. almost instant gratification. i don’t have to wait until spring or summer for results…they’re happening right now! we’ll see if this turns out to be a some spring bulbs. two weeks later and they are showing little tiny sprouts just poking through. i hope that they will blossom.

michael in the side bed garden

today, we added a second elephant ear to the the side bed. it was a beautiful specimen; in much better shape than the first one we bought. i hope it takes. the first one is looking a bit yellow and droopy.

we bought california poppy seeds to plant as well. michael wanted the color mix…i like the solid red. so we have the color mix in the side bed now. i also bought a white version to plant in my pretty blue pots. i hope they bloom. i would like to have those on either side of the front door.

the hydrangeas are thriving and the back yard looks good too!

a new year…

so there is a challenge to take 10 “can’t miss photos” each month. of course, january for most of the rest of the country is full of snow and very cold. so the challenge says to take pics of snowmen and children bundled up…sweaters and sleds…icicles and indoor play. in sunny california..it’s averaging about 70 as our highs every day!

so here is my outdoor winter photo for january….

a terrible picture of our newly planted hydrangeas in the busby backyard
