when i stumbled upon this list, i realized it concisely summed up everything that the conservatives are about. seeing how closely aligned their belief system is with bin laden should be shocking but it’s not.
i come at this issue from two directions. i’m squarely in the liberal column. there is no doubt about that.
however, i also am coming at this from an atheist point of view. for years, i’ve been concerned with the overreach of rightwing conservative evangelicals. i feel, almost, that they are almost as bad as the militant muslims. thank goodness that the evangelicals haven’t begun to attack on the large scales that the terrorists do.
when i began to write the above last two sentences, i first said that conservative right wingers such as evangelicals, but others also, aren’t violent like the militant muslims. then i realized, they are. they just haven’t moved to a large scale. they are content with murdering abortion doctors or threatening women entering the clinics. they blow up federal buildings killings over 100 people. they shoot cops who get in their way.
i keep hearing palin and bachman and the others saying that the constitution and indeed our very nation was founded on judeo-christian principles. i would agree that many of the above listed items seem biblical in nature. i do NOT believe that our founding fathers would have stood for this type of nonsense.
i’m very happy to align myself with the liberal column. i hope you take a close look at the list and think about where you stand. i could use a dubya line and say ‘you’re either with the liberals or you’re with the terrorists’. you decide…
