so far i’ve painted my bedroom and the kids bathroom this week. i would have done more today but michael requested that i make chocolate chip cookies for his group at work. i will probably do either the kitchen or the upstairs hallway tomorrow. i need to clean up kaity’s room today so that i can start moving stuff around and paint thomas’ room either friday or next week.

my bedroom
i bought the bedspread at target when we first moved in here. i absolutely love the color so i took one of the shams to home depot and matched the paint color to it. i think the walls are about a shade darker but i love the way it looks. it’s darker than the original light light blue walls but i think it makes it more welcoming for sleep (and whatever else happens to happen). i hope eventually to find bedside tables that will match (somewhat) the bed. no luck so far with the light wood color of our bed.

kids' bathroom
it’s really hard to get a decent picture of the kids’ tiny bathroom. the walls are a pearlescent pale cream color. i really love the color! i bought a chocolate colored shower curtain that i thought looked like a nice compliment to the color on the walls.
i’m too tired to mess with the thumbnail presentation so to see the full pics you’ll have to click on each thumbnail.

pics of the kids by the staircase window

the latest pics of the kids on the staircase wall
i think starting late last week i must have hit a manic phase. (yes, i’m bipolar) last week i decided i was tired of looking at bare walls and i wanted to see my pictures and paintings hung. so i went a bit crazy! i love to have family pics all over but most of them are in old frames which aren’t in great shape so i need to replace those over time.

my $1600 painting from croatia

the dining room painting (ignore the clutter)
during the prep for the spring dinner dance last year a parent of one of our students said he had a friend who was a well known croatian artist who would be willing to donate a painting. it was modern and different and i was lucky enough to win it at our silent auction. i didn’t pay nearly what it is supposed to be worth but i’m happy to have it. it goes quite nicely with our pale yellow walls.

pics on the door by the laundry room

pics of grampa mcclellan and gramma horan
i love to have pictures or paintings that remind me of my family history and of my travel history. the paintings on the wall by the laundry room were all purchases at spancerfest (a fun festival that happens every year) in varazdin in croatia. the pictures on the wall by the front door are of my mom’s dad – grampa mcclellan and of my dad’s mom – gramma horan (brafman-brown). the photo in the brown mat on the mirrow was an overhead shot of dubrovnik. i can actually point to the building that had the apartment we stayed in while there.

several different pics around the tv area

the adriatic stone pics and the artwork from lee
the last set of pics are in my livingroon. mr. busby framed 3 of the photos around the tv. the large modern is another by the croatian artist but this time a signed print. the other painting on the right was one that we bought while we were in prague. it’s one of my favorites. at far left is a little pen and ink that we bought on briuni in croatia and a panoramic of denali that mom bought for michael one year. between the top and bottom windows in the living room are photos of adriatic stones that i won at the spring ball of 2008. i really love them. in the center is a piece of framed art that lee gave me. i’m not sure what it is supposed to be but i love the way it looks.
